Spiritual Companionship

How are we to awaken again to the sacredness at the heart of all life,

the sacredness that is also at the heart of our own being?

-John Phillip Newell-

Spiritual Companionship, sometimes referred to as spiritual direction, is a process of exploration, discernment, transformation, and healing alongside a trusted person. Within the context of co-created safety and relationship, a trusted companion is present with another as both individuals listen for a deeper knowing of the sacred presence in a person's experience, self, community, and world. Often those seeking a spiritual companion are searching for the deep presence of another to hold and honor the profound questions and challenges they face related to meaning, relationality, loss and suffering, and/or one's life direction.

Spiritual directors or companions "support the unique spiritual journey of every individual. They are welcoming and present with those they companion, listening and responding without being judgmental. They are contemplative and honor silence as a spiritual practice. They are intuitive spiritual friends — accountable and compassionate, hospitable and open, loving yet independent.

Spiritual direction or companionship inspires people to experience authenticity in their lives as they connect with and explore the ground of all being, that deepest of truths which is beyond life and death and goes by many names, including God, and no name at all." ABOUT ME AS A SPIRITUAL COMPANION

As your spiritual companion, it is my responsibility to ask questions in loving curiosity to allow for deeper knowledge, experience, stirrings, and listening to emerge. I do not know the answers or know anyone's direction or deep truth. But I would be honored and humbled to offer spirit-led curiosities and to be a witness to your unfolding.

Being a spiritual companion requires that I engage in fostering, knowing, exploring, and cultivating my own spirituality. At this point in my life, my spirituality exists in the spaces between. I draw spiritual guidance, sustenance and understanding from the Celtic tradition and other traditions and teachings, mystics and personal mystical experience, the teaching and example of Yeshua, and the presence of the sacred in our natural world. I attend Celtic Contemplative services in my community, as well as other gatherings that include contemplative, social justice, and community-based prayer. I was raised in the Roman Catholic faith and find meaning in several catholic communities and contexts. My spiritual learning continues to ebb and flow, shift, and expand day to day. I am always becoming and unbecoming; I have imperfections and rough edges that I learn to befriend and love.

I have learned everything I know from teachers, role models, and ancestors. My spiritual beliefs are deeply rooted in my belief and ever-growing understanding and living-out of collective liberation. I am grateful to my Energetic Ecology Community, my faith communities, my family, and so many teachers.

Being committed to life-long learning, I recently completed the AnamCara Apprenticeship through the Sacred Art of Living Center. This experience assisted me with personal knowledge, learning, deepening of my own rituals, and growth in the art of spiritual companionship within the Celtic spiritual tradition.

FOLKS I COMPANION

I work with folks who hold varying beliefs, faith traditions, experiences, identities, and backgrounds. You do not need to hold the same beliefs or faith traditions that I have held or currently hold for us to work together.

That being said, I am not meant to work with everyone; if you need a spiritual companion with a different background, culture, demeanor, or life experience, please follow this internal knowing. I am here to offer referrals or to suggest resources as you search for someone best suited for you. Feel free to contact me to set up a time to ask questions, get to know each other, and discern whether we are a good fit.

We might be a good fit to work together if you are experiencing:

Grief and loss

Change in work, life direction, or circumstances

Shifts or questioning of spiritual or religious beliefs

Isolation, questioning, or searching as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community

A yearning and curiosity for connection, depth, or meaning in life

A desire for a more embodied experience of your spirituality
